700R4 Trans kit 87 Iroc
Hi,
Building engine for friends car and we have the same make
and model, (87 Iroc) other than color and options.
I am running the B&M 700R4 but he can't pop for the price.
What is the best shift kit to get for the 30 spline 87 700R4.
Believe these are running Corvette servo that came with the 350TPI in these years.
Did these trans have the Corvette servo in them??
Not into these trans as to working on them so don't want to get
into internals. His motor not going to be as aggressive, HP or
torque as mine and figure 425-450HP.
Can rebuild the old muncies and t-10s but not up on the newer
autos so just want to get the best kit I can install without having
to tear everything apart.

The b&m transpack kit will firm up the shifts and bark the tires. It is cheaper than the transgo and easier to install. Transgo seems to be the brand preferred by most but is more expensive and more complicated to install. The corvette servo is available in the aftermarket for $30 or less. I am pretty sure the vette servo was not used in the f-bodies. Hope this helps.

Servo is easily changed. The cover on pass side is removed to replace 2 parts of the servo assembly. Not a difficult project and detailed instructions usually come with servo.

Hi,
Thanks and sounds like your up on this.
Pretty sure he'll go for this.
So, I'll just order the B&M Transpac kit and the Corvette
servo for him.
Any special info I need to get these pieces?
Summit should carry the kits.
Thanks again!

Summit will have the trans pack shift kit. They may not have the servo. They are easily found on e-bay in one of the transmission stores. We like Oregon Performance. Good parts w/great prices and service. If I didn't mention it before, a corvette governor puts the shift rmp at about 5400 rpm. These are inexpensive also. About $35 bucks

B&M makes a kit that includes different weights and springs to mod the governor to shift at what ever rpm you want. I have not used the kit so you will have to use trial and error to get the right combo of springs and weights.

Hi,
Thanks for question and answer session here, and just
thought, he can manually shift at desired RPM. Correct?
Been looking for the 700R4 Transpac kit at Summit and
can't find it. Will keep looking.
Tried that Oregon connection and not on Web.
No servo at Summit so will look around
Thanks

Hi,
Went to B&M site and found the transpac number I need
but no info on Servo so will call that Oregon number you
gave me.
If I can get all this for couple hundred he'll be happy.
Building him a 383 also but alot more docile and street
friendly than mine.
If he blows his, will sell him my B&M and upgrade mine.
Transbrake comes to mind.
Haven't decided on the Converter for mine and may have to
keep that possibilty on the chance I ever go that route.
Thanks for helping out
