10 bolts from fourth gen
Will a posi, rear disc-equipped 10bolt third member from a 97 firebird fit an '85 Camaro?

I know the answer if you explain what a 3rd member is. Factory names of parts are best, everybody knows what you are talking about then.

To the best of my knowledge the carrier will fit. The axles will be too long for your brakes to mate up properly.
You can use 4th gen axles in 4th gen housings. 3rd gen in 3rd gen housings.
The whole rear end will bolt up pefertly and carry over the brakes from one eara to the other. All cause of the axle tube lenght/brake mounting flanges...
