Rear control arms!!!

I have gotten everything removed except the bolts holding the rear axle to the control arms. I have gotten both the nuts off the inner side of each control arm but the bolts are FN stuck!!! I can't get them out I can get them to rotate but they won't come out of the control arms. After that the rear end is out... talk about a pain in the azz... anyone had theirs do this before? Any other way to get them out?

I had the same problem with one side when I put in my 9" a week or so ago. I had to pull the front LCA bolt and roll the rear out from under the car with the LCA still attached. The bolt was completelt rusted/fused to the metal cylinder running thru the bushing for the control arm. I ended up using a sawzall once the old rear was out and cutting thru the bolt on the two inside edges of the bracket. Went thru 4 blades (that's a really hardened bolt!), but got the LCA off. Used new bolts when I put the 9" in (and Lakewood LCAs as well).

Hope this helps....

Yeah like I said I could get them to turn but not come out... I put the nut back on the end of the bolt and even hammered with my gibungus hammer and they still didn't come out. I will attempt removing the front bolts in the rear control arms. I tried earlier yesteraday and they were quite difficult to even get the nut off so I quit before I put my hammer through the door...

That's the way I had to do it. We hammered on the bolt enough we started to bend the bracket on the axle before I quit.

Was this after you removed the axle? I am just curious since you say you quit hammering at it. You were getting new ones though so that worked out for you. I will attempt to try and get the other two towards the front of the car off. Then see if I can get the others out...

I cut it out of the rear bracket after we pulled the rear since the hammering wasn't working. All I cut was the bolt. So with new bushings and a bolt you could still re-use the original LCAs if you wanted to. I switched to Lakewood LCAs on mine, but that doesn't matter on what you're trying to do.

Air hammers seem to work good, but not everyone has access to one.

Well I sprayed it with a bunch of wd40 and then started hammering them for about 3 hours... I finally got them to come out... after starting a fire from all the wd40 and all the hammering creating sparks... I was ready to finish the job.
