I think i already know my answer because but here it is. I have a 89 rear im planning on putting together and i have an old 92 drum rear with 26 spline axles. the problem is i have a 26 spline carrier and all the other parts ready for a disk rear build but no axles.(drum axles wont fit rotors already tried) I want to get vette y2k rims so i was wondering if i can just swap in a set of 28 spline 4th gen axle shafts? I know they are wider but i was looking at how wide my bearing was and how wide my area on the axles were and it looks like it could go an inch or so in either direction. donno just a theory. Can i use them ??

Fourth gen axles will not fit into a third gen housing.
