Yup. It's got one foot in the grave. Eventually it will do that with every shift, and then it just won't shift. Get it rebuilt now and you should be able to save all the hard parts.
Definately add a TransGo reprogramming kit. It's the best kit on the market and will make for a smooth shifting trans at part throttle and a neck snapping one at WOT. If you have altered your engine, or plan to I would highly recommend a set of Vette servos.
If you plan to get into the 350+ HP range I would say go with a Probuilt kit for the rebuild. This has all the goodies, and is rated up to 575 HP. The kit is $500 and includes the TransGo kit, Beast sunshell, 10-vane pump guts, and all the parts needed for a full rebuild. Check out www.700r4l60e.com for ProBuilt's website. I would definately go with their kit over a TCI, Hughes, or B&M. Probuilt has much, much more experience with 700R4s than any other company, and has actually helped design a lot of the parts TransGo sells for the 700R4.

You can, and should use it with your 305.

Yeah, no reason not to. The converter will stall differently with a 305 than with a 350, but otherwise there would be no real difference.

I have no first hand experience with Mad Dog. However, a few corvette forum guys have posted positive opinions of his work lately.
