Strange 12 Bolt Rearend
Maybe i'm a bit sleepy now after working 12 hours, but it look like Strange installed the backing plates of my LS1 Brakes setup backwards on my rearend. The backing plates are facing the front of the car while other pictures I have seen it looks like the plates should be facing the rear.

I have a strange 12 bolt in mine and the caliper mounts came attached to the rear side of mine. I have had problems with my brakes. Maybe yours is right and mine is wrong??I think I will call them and find out why there is a difference.

I have been looking at some 98 & Up Camaro/Firebird and the calipers are mounted toward the front. Also Strange put 35 spline S/T axle on my rear end instead of the adverstise 33 spline S/S, plus as a bonus they gave me new backing plates and brake shoes for my rear end. So I have to give them a

Hey, I know this post is a few months old but did you ever get the LS1 brakes on the Strange 12 bolt. I am looking at ordering the Strange 12 bolt and want to use the ls1 brakes with it. Run into any problems with it? Thanks, Jt

That's a sweet setup you have there!

I went with Strange because I can pick it up local (no shipping cost) 18 mile from my house. Not to mention I was in on a group purchase, plus I got the Street/Strip 35 spline axle, aluminum support cover, and new backing plates for $1925.00 ready to install.

So, no issues with puttting the LS1 brakes on. I picked up a set of Ls1 backing plates for $160 shipped and will have to send them in to Strange, i was told they dont carry the 98-02 Backing Plates. The rear is going to be $2100 with an additional $105 for the aluminum cover. Buying them frmo Stenod Performance at LS1Tech.com. Do you guys know which gears would have les whine(Strange or Motive).............jt

i dont remember which company i ordered my strange 12 bolt from but i got it unassembled and with everything except gears and my spool for around $1400 i think it was. c-clip elim. alum cover, axles, bearings etc.... I bought a strange full spool and richmond pro gears off of ebay for not much, and an $90 install kit from jegs. But ive also got a guy thats going to install the gears for nothing. So i guess i saved a little money going that route. When i get the money saved up im going aerospace disc brakes all around.

Now I have to sell this 10 bolt w/ 3:73 gears, so I hope I can get a couple of hundred bucks for it.
