Heres the ad:

C6 rebuilt tranny, red racing clutches, stg 2 shift kit, 3500 stall, never used, 1300inv, first 600 takes

Is this a 6 speed corvette tranny? if it fits and stuff Im so gonna get it.

obviously it will hold the power of a 383 right?

i would assume it is a ford c6, so no, it wont work

and afaik c6 corvettes use a transaxle setup just like the c5s

Im pretty sure there would be a way to adapt the transmission and it should take the abuse but the question is why in the world would you want to

There are no adapters to bolt a ford tranny to a 2.8.

Oh, and its an auto, not a 6 speed. The stallconverter and shift kit should have made that obvious.

C6 trannys are part of the rear axle, trans axle, like the old VW's

Yup, a C6 is a Ford trans. Same basic idea as a TH400. It was Fords heavy duty trans used behind FE big blocks and in trucks. Typically anything with a 351W and up got a C6.

Corvettes, both the C5 and C6, use a version of the T56 6-speed. It is incorporated into the rear axel assembly to make a transaxel that is mounted in the rear. That trans is no usable in anything but a Corvette. People that swap a T56 into a 3rd gen are either using the 4th gen LT1 T56 or an aftermarket retrofit T56 made for swaps into other vehicles.

Earlier Vettes used a ZF 6-speed or the 4+3, which was basically a Super T-10 with a grafted on overdrive assembly that could split gears. They were not known for their reliability.

I'd let the C6 go. It isn't what you need. If you want a stout automatic look for a well built 700R4 or TH350. If it's a stick you're after a T56 is a good option, as is a well built T5.

Wasnt there a builder here awhile back that retrofitted them into GM cars?

There may be adapters, but if you are starting off buying up stuff from scratch just buy a GM trans. It will make your life so much easier. A C6 isn't any stronger than a TH400, so there really isn't anything to gain.
