Shifters for T5

One of the upgrades I am thinking about is replacing the stock shifter in my Formula, and I was wondering if anybody else here has installed a new shifter. If you have, what kind and do you like it; and was it worth the money and effort? Please no third or fourth hand stories, it has to be you or someone you know personally, and they need to have told you directly. I don't want and horror stories and not really know if they are true.

You want the Pro 5.0. All of the other shifters don't compair IMPO. If you want something that feels more like stock than you should look at the B&M. If you want an all out shifter with travel stops and zero dampening then the Pro 5.0 is for you.

I had no complaints from my B&M and absolutely loved it. I have the Pro 5.0 on my T-56 and its awesome, definitely love the stops.

I've had the B&M Ripper in my 86 Trans Am and that was nice, but I have the Pro 5.0 in my 88 Formula and love it.
My 90 Formula has an aftermarket shifter I think, just don't know what it is, unless GM made the stock one stronger.

Now that I have some info, how about a before and after comparison of your shifters? (Smoother, more positive shifts, etc. Feel free to go into detail.) Also, did any of you install the new shifter, and how hard is it to do and how long did it take you?

Shifter installs are pretty easy. They vary between the birds and camaros though. I removed my entire centor console. In all there aren't many bolts to get at the shifter. After that only four hold it in. A thin line of RTV and some reverse installtion and you are ready to set the stops. It is very easy and pretty self explanitory.

As for the differece; you can say that it is nothing short of amazing. There is zero slop, zero play, zero over-travel, and super precise. The Pro 5.0 feels like you are manipulating a machine. The shifter goes in gear and thats it. It is domination.
