Manual shifting wont hurt it AFAIK. Its actually supposed to be better as it increases line pressure, reducing slip.

well when mine was stock, i used to shift it manually cuz it short shifted somewhat
and plus it was fun...
one day i blew it up while i was racing. shifted second into 3rd, and it wouldnt go into third and i took 2nd to 5500rpms and let off the gas .. it then went into third. after that, i lost od and third. LOL
since then, i got a rebuild and shift kit. and shift it manually at the track and it runs great. shift kit is nice. but i'm not sure if thats good for it or not. i always heard its not the best thing to do, and thats why they make manual valve bodies for that stuff. so far, my tranny has like a abit over a year on it and 6-7K miles and it hasnt missed a beat.

i m looking at a b&m console megashifter which is the ratchet shifter, but what exactly does it do?
does it give you complete control over the car like a manual and do have to pull it back for each shift or is it like a normal shifter where you put it in 1st gear than 2nd and on?

with the megashifter do always have to shift yourself or does it do it for you if you want it to. How does it work?

My friend had one in his old car. It basically shifts like a regular automatic in gear, but you can ratchet through each gear like in a manual (I think, don't quote me on this though).
Personally, if I wanted to shift through each gear individually, I would just put a manual in my car and skip the B&M shifter altogether.

the mega shifter works like a normal shifter when in drive or OD. it has a reverse lock-out so there is no way you can miss neutral and shift into reverse when manually shifting. it also has a detent assembly built into it so you will not likely miss a shift.
