Definitive VSS answer

Is there a different T-5 VSS for 86-90, and one FOR 91 92. I have this sensor, PICTURED, but my 1989 plug is more like the plug for my auto VSS/reverse light plug.
Thanks to PAUL, from whom I copied the pic. Also any P/N's WOULD HELP.

Chime please, I don't want to spend 60 bucks if i don't need too.
What is the deal with the 4000 pulse, and 2000 pulse. Can I just scratch build a connector for this andhope it works. I am looking to try to drive the car this weekend.

That does not look like the one in my 92 RS with a 4L60.

I used a Dakota Digital unit to fix the speedo in my car.

Not true...up to '89 was different 2000 pulse

'90-'92 4000 pulse, like the one in the picture.

The 2000 pulse sensors where optical units mounted to the back of cable speedometers. They switched to the magnetic 4000 pulse transmission mount sensors in the firebird's in 87 or 88 (i forget) and 90 in the camaro, it has been 4000 pulse sensor ever since.

great discussion, but why are there 2 very different plugs. One has the 2 "hooks" on the out side, an the other is 1 single hook in the middle.

Wrong again....the 2000 pulse is the one that has the plug in the middle, not off to the side like the picture.

The single hook plug is the one for the 2000 pulse.

The two hooks were the one for the 4000 pulse.

The 4000 was only used with a '7730 ECM
