how fast have you gone on a 10-bolt?

i have a eaton cone posi, hardened axles, and a T/A studed aluminum cover with the gurtle.

im just trying to predict when mine is going to break!!

oh and is it worth putting a slick on the car? or am i just making more work for myself?

speed is much of a problem, you might as well figure you can't go too fast with a 10 bolt to break one.

A beefed up 10 bolt got me low 11's with 1.6x 60' times. No matter what you do though, it's still a tiny ring and pinion and that's the weakest link.

well, im talking drag racing. the car might see 115mph thu the traps. and a mid 11s run. i have my next motor next to the car now, and that should put me well into the 10s. so i bet i should find myself a good 12bolt or 9" before i swap the engines.

damn GM designers....

My 10 bolt was good until the slicks ;-) once they were heated and stuck on launch....... it was all over for the carrier lol

lol

Its not how fast u go, its how much does your car weigh and how fast is your 60 ft lol

U start popping out 1.6's and less on a reg basis and cross your fingers when you launch.

Amazingly have a friend that runs consistent low 1.7's and best of 1.56 on new MT's spraying and we have tons of run on the car lol

Only bad part was he lost a c-clip and it munched his spider gears and posi. (not even racing it)

We swapped my old but working(grooved posi lol) and did a hillbilly rig for one day of racing and he still drives the car on it :-)

later
Jeremy

i think 12 bolt is cheaper and lighter and should hold all the power your ever gonna want... i'd go 12 bolt and plus, its GM so you kinda keep everything GM. LOL

Sometimes it just seems like some of them have a ghost that just lets them hold on a lil bit longer but that fact of the matter is you mighty get one or two or even a season out of the factory one but it wont be reliable
