Probably going with a Vigilante or comparable quality. My motor specs on my web page as well:

406
240 240 hyd roller cam at .050
shift point 6000 rpm
reg ported AFR 190s
150 shot.
probably about 3550 race weight.

I would appreciate any input on stall speed and converter selection. Thanks!

Hughes 3200 stall. Call them up and give them your specs and they will suggest the right STR for you. Around $450 and will be much better than a Vig.

I do not know much about Hughes TC's, but I have used the Vigilante for many years now with much success, and I would recommend them highly. Let me know if I can be of help?

what transmission are you running? 700R4? TH350? Some friends and I are all having great results with a convertor made by a company called Torco. They sell under Art Carr's name but I think their convertors are a bit different and less expensive than actual Art Carr. I gotta 9.5" that stalls precisely where I wanted it to and is very solidly built it even drives down the road like a normal car... All for $350

Cheaper or just as cheap as off-the-shelf brands yet built way better.

Why does it matter the trans I am running?

I am thinking either a t400, 700r4 or a 2004r. Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming!

Some comanies make great converters and parts for TH400's, but cant build a 700R4 to save their life. Thats why. Different companies use different parts. The lockup clutches in one guys converter may be thicker/wider than the next guys.

The reason I ask is because a TH350/400 convertor won't be capable with a 700R4 and vice versa... I dont believe the company I recommended makes a 700R4 convertor but if they do I'm sure its more than $350
