installed posi, it works, but i get "wheel hop".....

So i recently installed a posi unit and new axles, everything went in fine, it works like it should, except i now get "wheel hop" off the line when i go to burn out the tires. both tires spin like they should, but one of them will bounce like crazy causing a violent vibration in the back end. i heard its pretty common in thirdgens, any idea how to stop it so i can do a smooth sweet burnout?

One thing that might help out is to replace your old worn out suspension bushings.

I had the same problem in my 91 formula when I originally got it with the 305 TPI motor.

I switched to aftermarket LCAs and had serious hop. Air bags in the rear springs will cure this. When you install them, make sure you run a separate line to each bag that way you can control the pressure individually.

Easy and cheap fix.

i'm on a limited budget, so how much would a set of rear air bags go for?

do new bushings/shocks before air-bags. These cars didn't hop factory boys. It comes with age. 99% of the time, thats what's wrong.

Actually, most of the tire hop problems in these cars come after you install new bushings and what not. The old bushing and shocks don't help though.

Airbags will set you back about 80 bucks for both sides.

I'm sure there's probably alot of guys out there that know more about this than I do but I think I'd go with a set of QA-1 shocks (after bushing renew). You have the choice of deflating the bags for the ride home or, this way, turning a shock valve **** to ride home normally. With the additional suspension control of the shock (they should let the rear settle a little on the top end), I think you'll be happier but a little deeper in the money hole.

They are made by AIRLIFT. Best place would be summit or jegs.
