I am looking at a rear this weekend for a friend its out of the car and I ned to know if it is a third or fourth gen rear...since they pretty much bolt in I dont know how to tell them apart
If you do it by length I need some measurements to go by...Thanks

I do believe the length is 65.5". There would also be the ABS sensor ring inside the the diff and then on the axles for the ASR option, if it was equipped.

to tell at a glance i look at the top of the pumpkin... if it has a boss for the ABS sensor cast into it, its a 4thgen rear... if it doesnt, its a thirdgen rear..
the boss may be drilled for the sensor, or it may not, depending on if the car has 3 channel or 4 channel ABS.... but the boss is still cast in there.
