9 Bolt experts in here please........
I just bought a 9 bolt posi disc rear out of a 1987 Trans Am. I am swapping it into my 1985 IROC (also a disc rear, but not posi). Please tell me what differences there are in bolting this rear in such as brakes, emergency brake cables etc. Is this literally a direct swap or is there anything I should be aware of. I want to know upfront what I may run into rather than discovering in the middle of the swap. Anyone who has done this, I would appreciate hearing what your experience was like.

I am about the do the same thing. I just got a 9bolt out of a 88 ws6 for free!!! So I am pretty stoked. Aparently everything bolts right up. Or at least looks that way. I won't know until I bolt it up. Good luck
should be a direct swap. If you're right on the years, then the only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not 85's have the later metric brake lines or not. I believe so, but not sure.
An 89 9-bolt would have different brakes, but as long as you have everything from it you would be fine.
do a search, others have done this before, so you'll find more info searching than posting.

Only the 82-83 cars and maybe a rare few 84s have SAE brake fittings. The rest are all metric.
