Auto to T5 Ran into a Snag
Ok well heres the scoop, I got the auto trans out, along with all the pedal assembly, I got the new pedal assembly in, the slave, new flywheel, clutch disc, pressureplate. and the trans is in. new B&M short shifter. But I cant shift gears, with the clutch pedal pressd in or out. I can move the shifter around a little bit, but I can only feel it attempting so to speak, to go into 1st and 3rd. Any thoughts? I really need this done asap

Sounds like the little **** on the bottom end of the shifter missed the little hole it's supposed to plug into.

Check that first, then come back fishing for more ideas.
If the trans hasn't been into, then that's the ONLY thing that can cause it.
If someone has had their paws in it, then all bets are off. You'll just have to take it back apart and see what they messed up.

Well then, needs to come back out, and come apart, and figure out what the last person who took it apart and put it back together since it last ran, did wrong.

See the weird thing is though, I took this trans out of the donor car myself, and it ran fine in that car... So I'm not sure what the hell is going on.

I know you may think this is a rather dumb and somewhat elementery thing to check but...I had a friend do this swap in his 86 camaro and he wanted to do it all by himself. So naturally I got a telephone call saying that he coujln't get the &^%*ing thing to go through the gears. I had preformed this swap a few times and knew what to look for. I went through all mechanics and found he did a good job except he didn't make the hole in the tanny tunnel large enough (used to be a 700R4 car) to flow through the gears. Good Luck and let us all know how you make out...I'm curious
