Broke my new T-56 Hydrolics.... Bought new again. What did I do wrong... ????

OK can someone with a T-56 tell me how to install them. I have put my entire car togeather myslef. I am not really a newbie with anything anymore after working on this thing for 3 years, but for some reason I can't get the damn tranny hydros to work right.

I do have the aluminum spacer that it needs.

I bolted it to the firewall, then bolted the resivoir to the booster bracket, after that I bolted the slave cylinder to the fork. Attached the plunger to the pedal and push, but nothing wants to move. I thought it was stuck, so I pushed harder and harder, til BAM!... The damn plunger that the pedal is attached to, BENT. i ordered another from GM for a nice $170. I am picking it up today and don't wanna mess up another. i obviously won't push hard again, but what could I have done wrong?

Thanks for any help. I REALLY appreciate it.

-Dennis

I would try to eliminate somethings while you still have the broken parts on, like take the slave off and see if the pedal moves. If it does for some reason your clutch fork must be stuck or installed wrong or something.

OK, so I managed to get it all in there by being very carful. Then I tried sliding the pedal in real slow and it worked!.... Good news... Then BAM it started to stick a little. And a little more but I figured it was getting itself aligned. So I fired her up and had my foot all the way in, I slid it out slowly to see if it would roll a little, but nope, nothing. Just stood there, then it made a wierd craping noise and I turned it off.

Needless to say I ordered a new fork today for a solid $88. I will be picking up tomorrow. I will then lower the pipes, unbolt my tranny X-member, remove my driveshaft and then see if I can unbolt my tranny just enough to get room for my wrench and the new fork to get inthere. I hope to god that the bearing is not messed up or anything else. That damn SPEC stage 3 was $500+ bucks.

Any advise anyone???

Advice, take the trans all the way out, clean the threads out before you bolt the new fork on, make sure to use locktite on the threads and tighten it very well.

I took the trans out enough to get the fork off. I have a brand new one and am gonna slip it in there and bolt everything up.

I allways use locktite on important stuff like this. Thats one of the reasons why it took me so long to find the time to take the tranny off the bellhousing.

This weekend I will finish the job and see if it fixes it all.

The throw out bearing had some scores in it, not sure what that means, but I hope it is OK.

OK so I got the new fork in there and rotated the TO bearing a little. It fixed everything. Feels great now!

Oh and I did it all without taking the a single thing off the car. I even had the DS still in there! Not that hard of a job if you have what felt like infinite patience. Took a lot of hours... but it is all worth it.

I even got to take her around the block. Shifts GREAT. Nice and smooth, even with the SPEC STAGE 3.

Thanks for the help guys.

I know on my Spec cluth the TO bearing was square. it was a pain to line up with the fork. that may have been your problem. I assembled mine 1st then went to push dowm on the pedal & it worked but would not release. It was because of the TO bearing not being fully seated into the fork.

I know a little late but it is some info.

Thats fine. Thanks for the advise. I acctually had the same problem. I didn't have the fork seated right on the TO bearing. I have since fixed it and drove the car a bit. It is all set now.
