can a person put a t-56 trans on to a 83 trans am. i need to know before i buy the trans. if not then i'll buy the t-5 then. can anyone help me with this question. i need to know if the t-56 will fit under my car. thank you for your time.

 

It fits one of those, or doesn't to whatever extent, exactly the same as any other 82-92 Camaro or Firebird.

I have one in my 83 Z28, so I suspect one would fit your 83 car exactly the same, since the only difference between yours and mine is some trim stuff.

do a search. It's been done and discussed many times, so you'll find more info searching than anyone will re-post.

 

I just answered your PM about this. If you are asking such broad questions, you really just need to spend more time on these message boards reading your eyes out. All the info about MODS and that tranny are all allready on this site. SEARCH. It is not easy, if you want to start modding your car, start off smaller. From the kinds of questions you are asking, I would assume you don't know too much yet. (just being honest, not trying to put anyone down). We all had to start somewhere.

Just READ a LOT. Then when you have more specific questions, come back and ask me or whomever else that has a T-56.

it'll work needs to be from an LT1 4th gen and no LS1 4th gen, you will need custom crossmember as well.
