Vss Speedo Gears

Can you use gears from a mechanical speedo in a VSS? Where would I get the speedo gears for a VSS?

The T-5 mechanical gear and vss gear should be identical to each other. As long as they both attach to a metal shaft with the d-shaped end, they'll interchange.

The post that James just put up should set you straight on what you need to get. The vss I just sent you has the metal shaft with the white gear on the end, identical to the one in the picture on James's post. You just need to get the same kind of gear with the correct number of teeth for the 3.73 ratio, which should be the red one with 21 teeth IIRC.

Are you serious? I need the plastic D shaped gear with something like 24/25 teeth. Sheeit. I have a later T5 that is supposed to have this mechanical drive gear with the metal shaft/plastic gear. I substituted an old style housing with a 24T plastic gear and it works, but leaks. Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap. Here is the current gear/housing/shaft I need the 24/25 T replacement gear for.

So Nobody makes a 25 tooth gear for this metal shaft?

I don't think I've seen anyone with a 25 tooth one. I think the highest one I've ever seen was a 23 tooth. Try D&D performance or 5speeds.com. One of these two places has some T5 speedo gears IIRC. Even if 5speeds.com doesn't have any, they could probably point you to a company that does.
