I hope I installed my transgo kit right :(
A couple things I have been worried about.
Number one.
The pressure regulator valve beside the solenoid. I figured out that the snap ring goes into the second groove... but I had to get it in there so tight that you cant even move the valve anymore. Not even with an extension... is this a problem? I think you are suppose to be able to move it just a tad, but you cant.
two: I am wondering if my 2nd servo is too tight. After removing one thick shim and installing the second servo the band no longer moves. the drum that the band is on moves some but not the band. I want to remove the servo but I have no spare blue orings to replace on the casing since you pretty much ruin them on removal.
three. When dropping my valve body I could have sworn some sort of spring fell out of the bottom of the tranny. I picked up the spring a lost it. Is there any springs that hang out of the tranny that presses against the seperator plate?
four: I used precisely the amount of check ***** that the instructions told me. However there are I think two left over.
Three went into the valve body itself. And four on the seperator plate. And I think there are two left overs... is this okay?
This trans go kit is no joke. I am just so paranoid that I am going to hurt my tranny... this is driving me nuts. Everything is buttoned up... and tomorrow I will test drive it.

2) sounds like the band is too tight. If the outer cover has .060-.090 movement, I usually call it good.
3) The 3-4 accumulator has a piston that goes in the case, followed by a spring. This large spring is the only one that touches the seperator plate.
4) Checkball arrangement varies depending on year.

1. i agree with floor guy
2. take a pry bar and use the tranny tunnel to put some pressure on the servo cover. the band just might be off center.
3.the 1-2 accumulator also has a spring that presses against the seperator plate. the 1-2 accumulator is the aluminum cover that has 3 bolts holding it on beside the valve body. if you followed the transgo directions, no big deal on the 3-4 accumulator since it is now plugged. the 1-2 is a big deal since it can make for some harsh 1-2 shifts.
4. you show you have an '88 tranny. that valve body only has 2 checkballs in the valve body. it does have one in the auxiliary valve body. if one of the checkballs left over is a big plastic one, don't worry about it. it is the smaller steel ones you need to worry about.

ok, kool....just keep in mind that it doesn't just have to be from a thirdgen. a lot of chevy's had the 700r4. a lot of trucks both full size and s-10 as well as a wide variety of cars. that snap ring is the same in all of them. even the one in the 4l60e is the same so you don't have to limit your years.

Well I got everything all said and done... but I do not think it is normal.
It will not go into second or third until you hit 3500 rpms... no matter how much throttle you give it. Unless you full throttle it it will go more.
Also when it goes into second or third it kicks in so hard that if you were not expecting it you could really get some bad whiplash. I read that the corvette servo will do this, but even at quarter throttle it wants to break your neck when going into second or third.... is this normal?

I just tried to adjust my tv cable in two different ways with no joy.
The old push it back as far as it will go deal then WOT it for the clicks.
Then I tried having my wife hold it WOT while I push the cable back with the button depressed.
still shifts at 3500
This is dangerous, it kicked in on a corner and damn near spun me out it kicked so bad...
It has to be the servo..
I will try tomorrow to add an extra shim if that does not work then then all the shims come out and the stock servo spring goes in.

dude, i have a super servo and don't have that problem. my 1-2 is extra firm because of the spring i used in the valve body(step 2,page 4)plus i have the .500 boost valve and one of the larger reverse boost valves. did you get your throttle valve to move freely?

The pressure regulator valve? Yes. It turns out the snap ring was warped. So I changed it and it works like a champ. At this point... I am second guessing everything..
This needs to be addressed imediately... My best guess is the servo

before you go through all of that, i would get with Dana(Pro Built Automatics) and see what he has to say. as i said before, i have a super servo which has no cusion at all and don't have that issue.

I cannot wait till monday to call his business number. Believe me I thought about him a while ago. I keep wishing I paid someone to do this... but I guess DIY is more satisfaction.
I will replace the servo spring tomorrow and I bet that may fix my problem. If not... then it is elsewhere.
