Where is the best place....
Where is the best place to locate and buy a posi for my 82 z28, The Junkyard? Besides on here shipping charges are kind of high. Should I locate one in town and replace the gears and such? Any suggestions.....

Purchase the appropriate posi unit and you can install it in the rear end you currently have in the car.

Check Jeg's. Auburn Gear. GM 7-1/2 and 7-5/8, 10-bolt, 26 spline. Part #'s 109-542057 (3.23 up) or 109-542058 (3.08 down), depending on gear ratio.

Here's how to determinne what ratio the rear is (jerk the diff cover and look): numbers are stamped on the ring and pinion:
41 : 15 = 2.73
40 : 13 = 3.08
42 : 13 = 3.23
41 : 12 = 3.42
41 : 11 = 3.73

Okay thanks for your help,
What about the gears do they have to be 26 spline also, cause I looked and I didn't find any that are 26 spline only 27....

The guy's at Randy's Ring and Pinion can also give you some good tips or advice. If you call them, ask about useing a solid pinion spacer instead of a crush sleeve. Works great.
