I GOT A WEIRD CLUNKING NOISE.
IM GETTING A WEIRD CLUNKING NOISE WERE MY SHIFTER IS. ITS A NEW SHIFTER AND AFTER THEY GET BROKE IN DO THEY NEED ADJUSTED OR ANYTHING? THE NOISE ONLY COMES IN FIRST GEAR WHEN I TAKE OFF HARD. THE TRANNY IS PRETTY NEW ALSO IT HAS ABOUT 750 MILES ON IT. THE NOISE STARTED AFTER A CRUISE AND WE WERE RUNNING THEM HARD AT TIMES. THE NOISE AND THE CLUNKING MAKES MY SHIFTER SMACK AROUND WHEN ITS DOING IT. THE TRANNY SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS SMOOTH. THANK YOU DAVE
You only have to go there once if you replace the pathetic stock rubber mount with an Energy Suspension polyurethane mount. Stock mount-roughly $7.00 x 3 = $21.00 plus the hassle of changing it 3 times. Poly mount-roughly $20.00 x 1 and only changing it once. Just my .02.

lol, I got the same problem, went to my local performance store to pick up the energy susp poly mount and the guy wanted like $60
, so I ordered it on summit for $20 plus handeling $9.99, and recieved it in the mail yesterday, and plan on installing it tonight after I get home from hangin out with my girl, car is already on stands
I'll let you know how it goes.

It's $29 at summit now. Order it from Spohn Performance. He's a sponsor, and it might cost a couple bucks more than summit, but the guy's got a great selection of parts, and knowledgable staff, and (when half of the country isn't snowed in, stupid snow) pretty fast shipping. Plus he helps keep this place open. Plus, I dunno this about any of the ones at summit, but the one Spohn carries (which is also available at summit) is the correct height, helping eliminate driveshaft vibration due to non-stock angles.

$20.95 from summit, but hey if I would have looked around, I would have went through a site sponsor. When I need something auto related I've pretty much been summit or ebay, but I'm going to have to search aorund some sponsor links so I know for future reference.

I'm about to go do mine now, I'll post back in a few hours.

Damn! That local dude should be thrown in jail for putting that big of a markup on his parts. That's ridiculous! I wouldn't worry about buying it from Spohn either. As long as it's a genuine Energy Suspension mount for GM applications, they're all identical. The cheaper you can find it the better. GM used the same tranny mount from like 1955-1997.
, and it took about an hour and a half. I think I spent more time actually geting the car up, and cutting a peice of wood for the jack to get the tranny up, and moving around the cars, etc. then it took to swap. Anyways now I gained alittle experience, and if I need to do it again, it should be no problem and I'm pretty confident I could get it done in under 30mins. Member

Dude, if you break a poly mount and it's not a faulty one, it would feel like a hoarse kiked you in the but.

Ahh, I got a prothane mount. And the $29 was from some jeep website. (I was looking around to see if I got a better deal through spohn) Either way, poly's the way to go.
