OK, time to pick your collective brains. I just got my 88 iroc running again (motor swap) and drove it. The trans shifted fine and I put 15 or so miles on it. I parked the car for 1 hour and drove it again. This time I only had 1st gear. It woundn't shift into 2nd at all, and if I let off the throttle it goes to neutral. I put a tv cable on it and no change. BTW the motor is a stock 60,000 mile 305 with headers. Thanks for the help.

No, I replaced the cable. I should have said "put a NEW cable". I'm taking it to a trans guy tonight to have a new gov gear put in. Hope that fixes it.

 

The majority of times when you lose 2,3,4 all at once, it is usually the governor gear that is broken or stripped. Start there and see what you find.

 

Thanks, the guy that I took the car to put a gov gear in it and STILL no change. Then we decided to put another new t/v cable on it. All this for a car thats going into storage in a couple of weeks.
