tranny fluid leak?

noticed a lil pile of trans fluid on the garage floor last week,got a chance to check out the problem,its coming out between the balhousing and the transmission.is ther a seal in the front of the trans that i just just change someday i pull it off?

First i would make sure its not the pan gasket. I had a similiar problem where the gasket wore out so badly, fluid would spray onto other places and it looked like fluid was dripping from other spots. Just something to keep in mind.

You named it, the front seal. It is a wear item and will fail before a pan gasket.

Interesting....my pan gasket failed already, i hope the front seal isnt next...*knocks on wood* Is that easy to do anyway?

right on right on,thanx for the feed back.was just checking so i can order a new seal b4 i spend the time to take it out.the only this that sux bout taking out the tranny is taking the console apart to take the shifter off .but ahh i wanted to cut my shifter a lil shorter anyway.

Also check the trans cooler lines and the servo area for leaks.

Yo dont need to take the shifter apart to take the trans out. Just disconnect the cable. Take the torque converter off. and wala! its right there.

It might be leaking from the case at the countershaft bearing. Search on "T5" "stretched case" There's a bunch of threads you can read through to confirm the problem
