Should I swap the tranny when i swap the engine? ? ?

Ok, so I have been debating on wether or not to replace my tranny when I do my engine swap. I am building a 383 not a high performance one though. According to Desktop Dyno It is looking at 400hp and 415tq at the crank. I heard that Desktop Dyno exagerates it numbers a lil bit but that is besides the point. I bought the car with a freshly rebuilt 700r4 built to stock specs NOT a performance rebuild. Should I be worried about replacing the tranny at this point? In the future when i can save up enough i would like to see a T56 or a BUILT 700r4 go in there. Any suggestions on wether or not I should be looking for a tranny a this point? I would like to be able to cruise around in my car by the summer time. So can i cruise around with that engine and tranny??

IMO I would do the swap at the same time, I think it is easier to hang a motor and trans together than try to change a trans by itself. Done that too many times laying in the ground with jackstands.
just my

But do you think that it will be a waste of money doing it at the same time since the tranny right now has low miles on a fresh rebuild?? What im saying is if i can get away with using a stock rebuilt tranny with a lower horse 383 should i? ?

I think it just comes down to what you can afford to do. If the bux are available replace it with the motor. If you don't have the green then wait.

If you put a 400hp motor in front of the stock trans depending on how you run it, it won't be so much a question of if it breaks but when. I only have 360hp and 410tq at the crank and I know I will break mine sooner or later and I did put a transgo kit in it. If I had the cash I would have done a lot more or went to a manual.

Kind of a tough call for you cause it is easy for me to say replace it, I don't have to pay for it. If you use the one you have and break it or you decide to replace it with a stronger one, sometime down the road you will question the decision.

I don't intend to sound like an A** I just gave my opinion FWIW.
