T56 - Speedometer - JTR Tailshaft
Has anyone recently purchased a T56 tailshaft from Jags That Run to convert the electric speed sensor to a cable drive? I just called tonight any they said that they are no longer selling this because they weren't making any money. However, it is still listed on their website. I wonder what would happen if I placed an order on the website if I would still get the part? Does anyone else know where I might be able to get this modified tail housing so I can get my speedometer to work?

JTR said the same thing a few years ago while my T-56 swap was underway. It's unlikely you'll get the tailshaft by placing the order online. It seems that no one feels like updating the website. JTR will sell you the parts along with some cryptic machining instructions. You're on your own to find a shop to do the work.

Yea I asked them if they would sell me just the parts and they said no. How were you able to talk them into getting it done? For a price of $350 how can they not be making money? How about you sell your tailshaft to me. :-)

I didn't. The work was done at a local machine shop a friend referred me to. Some head scratching was involved while figuring out their instuctions.

I see. How much did the shop charge you to do the work?

The shop charged about $200. Give or take... It's a rather involved set-up.
The kit comes with a plug for the old VSS location. I chose to stick the old sensor back in the hole in case I end up switching back.

Does anyone know of another company that will perform the same modification?

Some folks from my home board are asking the same questions.
Look here for more options.
