TCC dead.How do I replace?

I've been having a problem with my TCC solenoid as of late.If I leave it plugged in.(I have a quick disconnect with the tan-black wire that runs it)My car bogs down badly and the TC locks up WAY to soon.If I leave it unplugged the car drives fine.I would like to know how I can replace it.I know it's in the tranny pan but I'm alittle leary of anything tranny wise. Also another question I have is is there a way I can modify the trans so that I wouldn't need the lockup.I know I would need a different TC but that's not a big deal.I live in a small town so highway mileage isn't that big a deal. Help me out guys!

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

take it to a tranny shop. might not cost too much to fix.
Or put a big cooler on the front and forget about it.

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

what are you looking for someone to say? your tranny needs more troubleshooting. dig in or pay out. To change converters you will pull the tranny out anyway. fix it right or just drive it.

You might not have a trans problem but motor/drivability problem. The tc locks up and puts more of a load on your motor. Just my opinion. You should have someone take a look at it.

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

I'm sorry no one has given you any kind of valuable answer yet. I also have a 700R4 with a bad TCC solenoid, that locks up immediately when 2nd gear comes on, and bogs the motor down so bad you can barely drive the car. With it disconnected the car drives totally fine.

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

327 TPI- FWIW The 700 uses second gear feed oil for the lock up circuit. In your case from what you described it definitely sounds like you have a transmission issue. You might want to try replacing the tcc solenoid and have the valve body serviced. First thing to do is to put a scan tool on your vehicle that has data capabilities. Look to the tcc command. When you car hits second and starts to bog down what does the scan tool data tell us? Is it sending the ground signal to the transmission? If not and it still feels like the converter is locking then you probably have a cross leak in the pump or in the valve body of the transmission. Good luck

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

Ok what you guys have told me is good but my original questions have yet to be answered. How do I replace the TCC solenoid and if not how can I modify my transmission so I can "delete" it.As stated I would need a different converter and possibly tuning it out of the ecm.So any help on these issues would be great.

Re: TCC dead. How do I replace?

If you are looking tho eliminate the tcc function you will need a different converter and also you will have to modify the pump. There is a kit made by trans go that gives you a new valve to be installed in the pump where the lu solenoid goes. This modification is very important for proper lube with a dummy lock converter. As far as replacing your factory solenoid, You will have to drop the pan and remove the 2 bolts that attach it to the case. It is located in the front of the pan area and the snout of the solenoid is inserted into the pump.
