It looks to be a 700R4 rather than a TH350.The pans are completly different so check out the pictures below(700R4 pan,700R4trans,TH350 pan) and see what you think.

Re: 700r4 or 350?

700R4.

Since no third gen came from the factory with a TH350, you can see the torque arm mount on the tailshaft so that's another indication it's not a TH350

The early third gens have a TH200c 3 speed tranny. Every other with an automatic has a 700R4.

The 4 pin lock up connector on the drivers side is a dead give away to a 700 R4.

Re: 700r4 or 350?

haha that is false, obviously you have never seen a TH350C tranny or a TH200C either, the latter came in the 82 and 83 cars

from 81-86 the TH350C was in use and was lockup converter, as was the TH200C and some others

that is a 700r4 in the above pic,
its plain as day, just a quick glance and you can see it is,
all four corners of the pan being intact gives it away, along with many other factors

that is the only auto trans that came in the later F bodies
except supposedly the 2004r in a couple later years but the salvage yards dont seem to list it

so who knows

either way its not a 2004r or a th350 or anything else but a 700r4

some ppl have alot of basic learning to do about GM RWD trannies

good luck

Re: 700r4 or 350?

A 4L60E is an electronic version of a 700R4. That one doesn't have the electronic plug on the side of it to control the valve body.

It's an every day, normal 700R4 with a third gen tailshaft housing.

Re: 700r4 or 350?

4l60E was not until 92 at the earliest and they had no TV cable and had a whole different eeltrical plug than that old square one

Re: 700r4 or 350?

hi again

well 1 would be 1991

if that is the code stamped into the main trans housing

anyways its an every day ordinary old 700r4 regardless

the old style square plug and it having a TV cable is how to know

here is a pic that depicts a 4L80E(top) and a 4L60E(bottom)

notice the different style of plug and lack of a cable

700r4 was the only auto trans available in your year make and model from factory

case closed lol

good luck

Re: 700r4 or 350?

The 2004r did come in 3rd gens, but only in TTA's.

I've never heard of anything factory other than the 200c and the 700r4. The 350c's were mostly a truck trans, some big-body cars. Early models, even v8's, came with the 200c. - That's why there is no t350 tailshaft available that has the tq arm provision.
