Leaking Transmission Fluid

My 1983 Firebird is leaking transmission where a line connects to the transmission. It is a manual. I was wondering if anyone knows what the line or cable or whatever it is is called? It has fittings like a water hose. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Re: Leaking Transmission Fluid

Does the line go into your clutch master cylinder. The little reservoir on the drivers side of the firewall and the other end into your slave cylinder on the tranny?

Re: Leaking Transmission Fluid

Nope that doesn't look like it at all it is just one long line about 4 to 4 and half feet long and it comes out the back of the transmission up to the front of the car to another thing that has a hose going to off it towards the steering wheel. Have any ideas I have been searching all day I can't find nothing.
----------
It is leaking from where the hose hooks up the the transmission but the hose has a spring like thing going inside of the transmission

Oh, that sounds like you speedometer cable. I believe those have a seal. Probably just needs a new one.

Re: Leaking Transmission Fluid

Thanks, I'll check that that out. I hope it is it. As you can tell I don't know much about cars.

Re: Leaking Transmission Fluid

Get yourself a repair Manuel for your car. That will help you out a lot in the long run. Haynes is alright, I've heard chiltons is better though. O'reillys sells both for around 15 or 20 bucks.
