T5 questions....
Okay I'm done with my 700R4. Thats the third 700R4 I've been through. Anyways, I searched here and found most of the info I need to do a T5 swap. I am getting a T5 with bellhousing from a V8 car. My question is this, Can I use the pedal assembly, shifter, hydraulics and clutch fork from a V6 car? What about the flywheel? I know I need a V8 clutch beacuse the input splines are different. One more question, how will my ECM react to having the TC wire disconnected? Thanks for any help.

Re: T5 questions....
pedals should be the same, hydraulics should be the same (don't quote me), but as far as i know thats where eveything changes, fork is made for v8 i bleieve, flywheel is v8 oriented, all that. and i can't answer your TC wire question.

Re: T5 questions....
I'm doing this swap over christmas holidays (th700r4 already out).
the ecm doesn't bother if the switch is disconnected, just leave it separated.
I'm not shure if the hydraulic assembly is the same for v6 v8. I would buy this part new anyways!

Re: T5 questions....
You can use the hydraulics and the pedals.
You must use the V8 everything else;
Clutch
Pressure plate
flywheel
clutch fork
Buy yourself a new roller bearing for the pilot bearing. Make sure your flywheel is for your year of engine. It matters if your engine used a two piece or one piece rear main seal.
You will need to cut a different hole in the floor for your shifter to come through. You will also need a standard shift console top for your center console.
Good luck!

Re: T5 questions....
If you will do a serach for T5 with my user name you should come up with some information you might not have read. I did this conversion during the spring of this year.
BTW, make sure you get a prety decent clutch. Last thing you want to have to do is pull it all out because you used a cheap one. Watch out for the slave and master cylinders though if you're using a used assembly. They are plastic and can break fairly easy. When that happened I bought some aluminum replacements at Summit. I honestly recommend you just using aluminum units and a braided line from the get go. That stuff is a PITA to swap out later. Plus the aluminum slave cylinder has an actual bleeder screw on it.

Re: T5 questions....
All the other questions were answered so I'll take this one. Your ECM will not care. The difference between the two ECMs is the Auto one has the TCC enabled and the Manual one has the shift light enabled.

Re: T5 questions....
Slave Cylinder
Master Cylinder (3rd Gen 82-92)
Master Cylinder (4th Gen 93-95)
Master Cylinder (4th Gen 96-97)
I have the 3rd Gen master because I didn't know about the 4th gen braided hose when I did this. I do not know if the braided hose will go into the 3rd Gen master cylinder or not. I do know that the 4th Gen master cylinder will fit in a 3rd Gen car and that the braided hose will fit into the 3rd Gen slave cylinder though.
I do not have a part number on the braided hose but I bet Pat Hall or your local parts store can get you one.
I also have no idea what the difference is between the Master Cylinders for the 93-95 and 96-97 4th Gens.
That should be all the information that you need.

Re: T5 questions....
Alright, thatnks for all the info! OKay so I am definately looking at getting the aluminum cylinders with braided line. Now what should I get, a pilot bushing or bearing? I've seen people use both. Also what clutch do you guys recommend? I want something good, but not ridiculously expensive.

Re: T5 questions....
I bought the original GM Master/Slave Assembly and it's fine for me. Don't know how you can break those actually *?*
Just be careful...like you hopefully are with everything else!
I'm going to open a thread with lots of pics when I'm done with the swap. Already took a lot of pics

Re: T5 questions....
Its a little more complicated than that. The prom has slightly different timing and idle settings as well for the two different transmissions. The car might stall when you push in the clutch to slow down, if you use an automatic prom. But chances are you'll be fine. Get yourself a stock manual trans prom when you can, or have one custom burned.

Re: T5 questions....
Is anyone offering a basically stock prom for a T5 car with the engine settings changed to a 5.7 liter?
guess you have to burn one yourself??

Yes, Mcleod clutches. Stay away from Centerforce. Their weight system doesnt work and gets caught on the clutch.
