In other words, study the installation instructions and pics or drawings carefully, and make sure all your parts and pieces are installed JUST LIKE it says.
It's been a LONG time since I've had a T-10, and it's different from a Muncie which I've also had LOTS of, so I can't recall the details exactly.
Adjusting is easy. All you do is take the rods loose from the arms; put the shifter in neutral; put the trans in neutral; put a ¼" drill bit, or about a 3/16" Allen wrench, or of course the little tool they give you, into the slot in the bottom center of the shifter body, all the way through, through the holes in the plates for each rod; and screw or unscrew the little things on the rod until they line up exactly with their holes. IIRC reverse is a bit tougher though, because that rod is so short that it moves in an arc instead of straight out when you take it off, so that one may take a few tries. I always tended to "bias" mine toward making the 2nd-3rd shift a bit easier than 1st-4th (that is, set the rods so that the neutral "gate" such that the handle is slightly farther to the rear in the 1-2 slot than in the 3-4 slot), since that's the direction the handle is usually getting moved. "Slightly" being the operative concept: by no more than a thread on the rod.

Re: T10 linkage adjustments!!!!???
Do you have the Hurst 4-spd? If you do, did you adjust all the gears with that little white plastic pin installed through all the arms in the shifter mechanism as-per the instructions? You have to do that to get them all adjusted correctly in relation to each other. I was having problems with reverse on mine untill I stopped getting ahead of myself and read the instructions, and they bitch-slapped me with "use the plastic L-shaped pin..."
It comes with the kit - looks sorta like a white plastic allen key, but round.
Also, did you buy the installation kit from Hurst as well? It comes with all the rods, bushings, clips, etc - you need it to use the shifter. All the linkage from the stock shifter is different and will not work with the Hurst shifter.

Re: T10 linkage adjustments!!!!???
yes i have the 4 speed w/ hurst shifter and install kit.i found a diagram of all of the linkages on the net,got to looking at it...and the dumbass who sold me the tranny installed the shifter but was using the stock shift arms and lingages? so i switched them out with the linkages that the guy gave me in a "PARTS BAG".and yes i have the allignment tool, but i cant find any instructions anywhere? and w/ the hurst linkages and rods the tranny feels really good and crisp through all 4 foward gears.but it appears that the reverse rod is about 3/4" too long? did you notice this adam? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks-art

Did you get this all figured out yet?
I take it you've got the pedal and z-bar mounted up right now?

Re: T10 linkage adjustments!!!!???
please try not to laugh... i was studying the schematics of the hurst assembly, and noticed that i had the shifter lever bolted to the assembly incorectly.
so i switched it and WALA! works like a champ!

Re: T10 linkage adjustments!!!!???
That's an easy mistake to make! I think I did that two or three times. Keep those instructions in a folder in your house, you'll be looking at it again.
Are you using the metal or plastic hurst "pit-kit"? I'd highly recommend getting the metal one. Which shifter handle do you have?
Also, I forget, where did you get the T-10 from? An '82 car or aftermarket?
How do you like it? Any problems, or can you rip through the gears in a hurry and have a good time with it?

Re: T10 linkage adjustments!!!!???
i have the straight-crome shifter handle that came with the kit. and a white shift ball. the tranny came w/ the plastic pit-kit installed, where could i get the metal ones? the t10 came from a 82z28,it seems to shift fine. i still dont have the right crossmember nor do i have the means to modify my stock one at the moment,so iv got one "rigged" in there for now, so i have not ripped through the gears yet. and the driveline is a little short,so monday i will get the right one. is your driveline out of your car? i need to know what length to get.

Lots of high performance stores carry the hurst "pit kit". It's just the plastic bushings and the spring clips. Except you can get it with metal bushings instead. Keeps things "tight" for longer. I prefer the feel.
You mean the driveshaft? Yea, I think mine is sitting on my garage floor, i'll see how long it is in a minute here...
