is it possible to put on the wrong clutch fork, like from v6 on to v8?

is it possible to put on the wrong clutch fork, like from v6 on to v8?
i didn't do it put i bought the t5 with the fork already installed. can't release clutch. now i'm down to this area being the problem. i looked to see if the fork is on the clutch ball, but i can't see the dip where its suppose to rest. aslo when i release clutch i here a pop from around the bellhousing
