A little Tranny Problem
Hi there...I have a 1987 IROC 305 TPI automatic.
I am swaping my 305TPI auto to a L98+auto from Corvette.
I have a mechanic on it but I want to be sure what is been done is the right thing and not been charge for extras that doesn't exist.....
My question is any changes need to be done?
I noticed that the vette's tranny have the speedometer eletronic and my camaro is analogic. The tail of the tranny has a slightletly diference.
According through the paper that I was give from the junkyard was a 1987 corvette so supose to be 700r4...but have some small differences with the original 700R4 from my camaro.
Anyone ever did something like that?
Any good tips or parts that I need to use or buy?
Thank's for all
Alex

Re: A little Tranny Problem
The corvette has a slightly shorter tail shaft and tail housing and the housing will not have provisions for your torque arm that will need to be switched. The shaft is only slightly shorter so you may get away with that. The dust cover will be different for the corvette also

Or I need to change all the hardware and leave the tranny alone?
Re: A little Tranny Problem
Changing he tail shaft would require a complete disassembly of the trans I think I would just change the hardware

as performabuilt said, leave the tail shaft alone. to take care of your torque arm problems, use the tail housing off of the one in your camaro.
