4th gen LS1 rear end and Ronal Firehawk wheels question

Hello.

I have an option of putting LS1 4th gen rear with 12" brakes into my 3rd gen Formula. I know it is wider than my stock 3rd gen rear but not as wide as LT1 rear. I am also planning to obtain Ronal R15 Firehawk wheels 17 x 9,5.
My question is: Will those Firehawk rims with 275 tires with LS1 rear end stick out of fender wells ? I do not know what is the ET of those wheels, Have anyone tried that combination? I hope it`s possible without wheels sticking out.
Thanks for any feedback.

Cheers
Marcin

I wasn't aware the LT1 and LS1 rears were different...just the brake setups are different. Hub to hub length was the same as far as I knew. LS1 is either 1 5/8" wider each side or 3 5/8" longer total than a thirdgen rear...I don't remember off-hand anymore.

With stock 16" wheels on my '88 TA with an LS1 rear, my wheels/tires stuck out about 1/4" past the fender. I imagine a 17x9.5 would stick out a little bit more. Wouldn't look too good IMO.

I dont think anyone has ever proven or disproven the difference in length between an LT1 rear and an LS1 rear, even though there is a thread on it and it gets brought up alot. I have pics of my 4th gen rear installed on my RS with the stock 15 inch rims, they dont stick out at all. And do they only make the Firehawk rims in the 3rd gen offset? if you were able to get them in the 4th gen offset wouldnt that help get rid of the tires sticking out so far?

Yes, 4th gen offset would be perfect. I had C5 wheels on my T/A with the LS1 rear and 2" spacers up front along with my C4HD setup (.5" wider each side too). Fit perfect.

You say that the LS1 rear end is 1 5/8" wider each side and i was told taht the LT1 is supposed to be 2"
wider each side for a total of 4" longer is that thrue or i'm dreaming.

Thanks!

I have one of a 95 SS with 11.65 inch PBR brakes, im running stock 15 inch rims and my tires sit flush with the fender, reason i know this is cause when i drove to school, my tires would rub, and i have gashes in my tire from the fender wall, it nowhere near sticks out 1/4 of an inch. I think it gives the car a mean stance, ive got a thread up with pics, cause when i did the swap i couldnt find many.
