I have been having problems with my car shifting to fast (less than 4000RPM) I have adjusted everything many times with the TV cable and have decided to look at the govenor. I only have 1200 miles on the trans and have never had it shift correctly. I can shift it with the shifter and it seems fine. I was told it has corvette servo and govenor. 1 to 2 shifts by the shifter are strong and really bites the tires as well as 2 to 3 . In auto mode the car shifts into 4th by the time you are at 35mph. If you floor it at 40mph, it only drops to 3rd gear and pulls about 3000rpms.
Tonight I pulled the govenor out to look at it.I have never had one out before. There are no marking on it other than a (J) in a diamond shape. Everthing seems really loose and free.There is a valve in the shift which moves back and forth easy when you shake it. Boy the springs are small and weak. One is a tan or cream color the other is bare metal or maybe dark purple. Any advise guys? Where can I buy a corvette govenor if this is not one? The trans is a monster trans. I bought on line. My car is a 89 GTA 5.7 which is stroked and built as a 383. Engine is strong and now I must work on the trans. Please give me some input.
