Poll: which way did you install the m/c on your 700R4-T5 swap?

I am at the point that I am ready to install the clutch master cylinder into the holes I drilled in the firewall. For those that have done it, or even replaced a bad m/c, which way is the preferred way to install it?

Options I see are:

1) try to wiggle it in from the top with everything in place as is

2) remove steering column coupler for more clearance

3) try to wiggle it in from underneath the car

All 3 look like a PITA, but there is probably a preferred method. How have you guys done it? Thanks!

From: First one out of liberty city, burn it to the ground
stand on drivers side by fender, have a friend in the car. The person outside takes his right arm under the brake booster and his left arm over it. U wiggle it enough for a friend to put a screwdriver in the eyelet end of the hydraulics then he gently starts to pull with the person outside straightening out the m/c. If it goes right at the same time the slave lines up perfectly with the hole for the hydraulics for the bellhousing.need more help lemme know i could help u today until 3 lemme know

From above.

It is in fact not very difficult. A few months ago I had to replace the entire hydraulic assembly: the slave cyl, master cyl, and reservoir, as they come form the dealer, all hooked up and pre-bled. I did this in a church parking lot where the car coasted to when the line burst, with only a floor jack and a few sockets and wrenches. It's not as hard as it looks.

When i installed the slave cylinder, I just stood in the engine compartment. Of course, this method is slightly more difficuly when the engine is still there.

Heh. I replaced my O-ring seal from the hose to the slave on gravel with the car jacked up on bricks found near by when the car broke down in the hood (I swore someone was going to come and try to steal the car off of me). I've got to hand it to RB though that's about 2x the job I had.

Well I gotta admit I did have my 11-yr old son helping... one helluva mechanic. He held the U-bolt thing (#15 in the other post) in place while I started the nuts. Couldn't have done it without him.
