Dude, don't pay that much for that stuff used. Make sure you get a World Class!!! You can get the bellhousing NEW from GM for around $160. Go to a transmission shop for the tranny. You can usually pick a rebuilt(WORLD CLASS) one up for around $500-$600 with a warranty. The place I got that price was ABE transmissions in LA. I bought mine from a guy in arizona that had his own 3rd gen junkyard in his backyard! I bet he was real popular with the neighbors. I bought the tranny, bellhousing, clutch pedal setup under the dash, cluth, flywheel, and driveshaft for $400. He even pulled the stuff out for me! However the dogs needed to be replaced and I just rebuilt the thing myself. It eneded up costing more than If I would have just bought a rebuilt one from ABE. The world class can be Identified by its 2.95 first gear ratio. Look in the JTR "TPI and TBI engine swapping book to get the full detail on what year/engine cars had world class T-5's. I would give them to you but someone barrowed my book, and it has not made it back to me yet!

82' Z-28. 327" w/ flat tops. 216/228/112LS. Pocket ported 041 heads 1.94/1.50 SS valves. World Class T-5 from a 91'. Best run? Runs with 2001 vette to 150mph!

By the way don't get a mud-stain. they are piles of crap. I work on them. The seats fall through the floorboards because the metal is so thin! Yeah they are light weight, but that is why crap like the floorboards cracking happen. When you have a car that has as much metal weight as a BIG-BLOCK CHEVY removed from it, something is going to give. Besides, everybody has a mud-stain, be different! Plus you will miss the great handling and rigidity of your F-body. Plus the brakes are better. I could go on but you get the point. Mud-stain owners HATE it when I beat down there crap with my 82' and then stop 5-8 car lengths faster than they can. Brakes are stock too. 4-wheel-disc, mud-stains did not offer that on non SVO's until the mid 90's!!!!!!!!!!

I got $750 for everything to go into a G-body 78-88; sold to a friend. Non world class 84 T/A trans, hydraulic bellhousing & pedals & all.

A friend owed me $ for some headers. I ended up with a World Class T5 for less than $170 (other cash & stuff was involved.) I got mechanical linkage from ebay (z-bar) and pedals from a friend in parts unknown. Gotta buy a clutch kit & I'm set. Less than $400 complete.

I would start looking around further on the internet. I have some hookups, but even if I didn't, I could damn sure beat $1250 with just a little research. You're better off getting a Lakewood & Tremec for more $.

Keep your eyes on eBay and keep asking your buds on the email lists. I waited and lucked out on my WC T5 (the shifter cover was from an 86 so he didn't know )

HEY!
You're in Rockford,IL? I live near St.Louis, MO... but I'm in Illinois. I live near Belleville,IL. Anyways, I have a '91 GTA that I drive. It has the WC T5 and I'm putting a built 350TPI in so I want to swap to a 6-spd. I'm wanting to sell mine. It will include everything but the pedal assembly. It will include flywheel to tailshaft. I even have a brand new Ripper shifter for it that I may throw in the deal. For EVERYTHING I'm wanting $600 obo. THis is negotiable, but its a little high to scare off non-potential buyers. Well, email me if you want. Maybe we can work a deal. You're not too far away. Here's my email:

why do you want to put in a T-5? just buy the stuff to mount a Tremec in a junkyard ad buy a new(or used)Tremec. if im not mistaken(and im most likely not )the T-5 had a torque rating that was barely enough to handle the 305 equipped Z's......why do you think the 350's only came with auto's? Even the world class T-5 is rated at a measly 305lb torque capacity. the Tremec 3550 handles 425 lb ft and has a 3.27 first and a .68 overdrive. step up to a Tremec TKO model and you get a 525lb ft rating with the same ratios. if you want a tranny that wont blow chunks when your making some power later on

I have a t5 out of an 87 IROC and live near st. louis. 150.00 w/80k on it. I thought the tranny had problems so picked up a WC and found out it was the clutch fork, so, I have the old t-5 left over

I had a "regular" T-5 in my '83 Z28 and
the countergear bearing (below the input
shaft) looked like the bearing in the rear
of an older GM alternator only a lot bigger.
If the bearing looks like that, just say NO!
