Where to get a posi???
Where to get a posi???
I have an open differential with 3.73's (on a 2 series carrier though) and want to know where to get a posi for a 2 series carrier from a 91 10 bolt. Can anyone tell me who makes them and where to get it? All the ones I see here are for a 3 series carrier. Tired of spinning one wheel and I was also told it would make times on the strip a little quicker. Thanks guys

I was shocked to see that companies sold a taillight
set for a rustang! Since when do they have taillights????

You have 2 choices.
#1- order an auburn 2 series posi from jegs/summit/whereever ($300ish) and unless you're good you'll have to pay someone to install it as well ($200ish)
#2-order a powertrax locker ($300ish) and install it yourself.
The sleeper option is to buy a take-off torsen from SLP for ~$100, some take off 3.42s for ? (cheap) and get it installed. This price would fall in the middle somewhere but you'd have a nice posi if you're afraid of a locker. Personally, i'd go with the locker...for more info on them just use the search option above and look for 'powertrax locker', you're bound to find a bunch of stuff.

Thanks. THe problem is that they told me that a locker is the same as a mini spool and should only be installed on a circle track car and would destroy my rear end. True or fiction?

fiction. Somebody lied to you. Close to 5 years street driven with exactly the set-up you have. 2 series carrier, 3.73 gears, powertrax locker. Extremely streetable, and the ultimate traction. It's not a spool. It has the traction of a spool when going straight, but unlocks when turning. I wish everyone that asks about this could drive around in my 82 and see what it's like, but nobody lives near Pleasanton NE. If you drove it, you would buy that powertrax the next day.

Sounds real good. 4 questions.
1. Where do I get one
2. If you have the same set up as me which model number is it
3. How much
4. How hard is and what is inovlved to installation?
I am VERY interested in getting one before this season at the strip (starts in 3 weeks here)

Old Yellr, i don't have on, but i'd venture a guess that in hard driving style cornering, while on the throttle, the locker will stay locked, thus you will have a looser rear end than a posi car. If you could handle it, it would seem to be to be a much faster set-up, with superior abiltty to bring the rear around, point and shoot in autox, with no wasted acceleration.

Summit racing and Jegs has them. What Ed said, point and shoot in hard corners.
