Speedo Recalibration going to 3.73's?
Speedo Recalibration going to 3.73's?
My 92 Firebird has 2.73 gears, I am swapping to 3.73's with a 3-series posi carrier. Does anyone know what speedo gears I will need? Note this is an electric speedo, but still uses plastic gears in the transmission, which is connected to a gear driven VSS. Is there any other ways to calibrate the speedometer? I'm thinking I'm not the first to do this

No offense, but if you work for Scoggin Dickey couldnt you look it up in their computer?
For a 700R4 automatic trans, its a 15 tooth and a 45 tooth. For a T5, its 7 and 21.

They cost roughly $15 all together. The parts #'s are: 8642620, 25513052.
The local guys by me know me by name! They are awsome. They love it when i come in with the part #'s and even when i don't they will take the time to go through things with me.

$8?! I feel as if i was ripped off!!!
I am sure it will be pricey. You have to take off the torque arm, drive shaft, and tail housing. Just swap them when the rear is out.

I just rebuilt the transmission, so I will do the speedo gears this afternoon while its still out.
Probably do the rear end gears in a few weeks though.
