How much can I get for my Iroc
How much can I get for my Iroc
The reason I'm posting the question in this forum is becuase the rear end is shot, so you guys know how much trouble it is to replace one. Here's the specs on my car, it is a 1986 Iroc-Z wit the 305 TPI, it's Black with the factory custom red interior, it has EVERY option available, including the overhead console and t-tops. The interior is in great shape, it has absolutely no stains and is just now starting to fade, the rear seats look like new. There isn't a single hole in the seats of any kind or any blemish on the interior fabric. The dash top is cracked pretty bad and needs replacing though. There aren't any speakers or a reciever in the car. The car was made at the shop with the bad paint, so the paint is faded and cracking pretty bad but no rust problems. The glass is all in perfect shape and so are the seals, the windows all open very easily. The hood needs new shocks. The engine and transmission are in great shape and very reliable, there aren't any leaks in the engine either. I'd just like everyones 2 cents on what I can get for it, the drag shop I work at on sundays wants it and they said they'd give me $500 for it, but I just bought it a month ago for $900 and put $300 into it, so I'm getting crapped over. What should I do? Should I sell it on ebay, or put it up as a parts car on autotrader or the newspaper? What do you think I could get for it as a parts car?
If its only your rear end going out you should be able to get AT LEAST $1000.00 for it, if it as in good of shape as it is in, most of the 3rd gen cars are either ragged out or wrecked so hold on until you get a GOOD offer. I tradded a 95 GMC conversion truck for my 89 Formula, but my car is in GREAT SHAPE all over inside and out.... just hold out and you will find someone like me that just flat out loves these cars and will not F*** you over.

WOW real low prices. when i was looking for an 3rd gen i couldent touch one in decent condition for under 2000$ and thats with a 2.8 lol! Go to www.kbb.com/
try trade in then resale value. the price between the two is what its worth. i paid 3000 for my 85 needed paint. and just a month
ago 975 for my 82, dealer thought it had a blown moter. "cam lol" so i would tell those 500$ people to stick it!

Your right, thanks for keeping me from making a huge mistake. I'm going to check and see if the junkyard in biffillo (located in florida, huge junkyard) has a camaro rear end, how will I know the rear end is useable though? One of the symptoms of a broken rear end is not being able to push the car, should I see if I can push the parts car(if it isn't on blocks), and if I can't, not buy it? How should I tell if it works if the car is on blocks? What is the cost for a new rear end and who sells them? I'd rather purchase a new one if they're under $1K.
look through the classifieds here. there are always rearends for sale.
and all you have to do is spin the rear. if it spins then it is ok..
and try to get a posi unit. it will be better for you. and if not. i will give you the $1000 you want for it. but i live in iowa so.

I just got everything I needed to convert from an automatic to a manual from yard http://www.thirdgenparts.com/main.htm. The guy running this is great and I am extremely satisfied. I'm sure he will have the parts you need.

These guys are definatly trying to screw you!
I couldn't touch a car like that around here for less than a grand. I sold a 84Z28 for $600.00 no motor, trans and ratty interior. The guy wanted a race car body and the body was in good shape. The rearends are pretty much the same from 82-92 camaro or firebird so they should be fairly cheap. I would try to find a low geared posi rearend while you're at it. good luck!
