pro 5.0 shifter on tko 600
If I put on a pro 5.0 shifter on my tko 600 will it sit back a little further so I'm not hitting the console on my shifts? The tko never came with a shifter shaft so I've been using one off an old transfer case. I hear alot of good things about the pro 5.0's, will this solve the problem? Also the tranny is sitting proper level with spohn x member and d loop.

No, it will actually sit in the same spot. What you have to do is make a small plate to move the shift lever back about 2" IIRC. I made it out of aluminum and used a Hurst shift lever, it was the right length and color. Try to make it so the lever ends up in the center of the console in neutral. With the short throws on the Pro 5.0 it won't hit anything.

Do you mean like a little square aluminum plate say about 2 " by 2" with 4 holes. 2 for the shifter and 2 for the stick? So the plate actually attaches the shifter stick to the stock tranny shifter but setting it back 2"?

yes
i was also looking into the tri-ax shifter from steeda. It has a handle that is swept back and looks like it may work. I just dont know is the stick is long enough.

the mustang shifter "handle" is nearly a perfect fit in these cars. I have a pro 5.0 shifter on an older TKO with a mustang short handle. works great

Can I get away with just buying a stick like that or do you have to get the whole shifter? Does the stock tko shift have shift stops?

the trans has internal shift stops, i dont think they're in the shifter, i made a handle by cutting and welding using an old long hurst truck handle
