I bought my car for 600 with the condition that i had to rebuild the transmission.....I cant afford to swap it to a better one so i am just rebuilding it while i learn more about cars....Anyways i went to a local shop and they quoted me 585 for full rebuild and new convertor....I went with a friend that does business with them and supposely i got a cheaper price...what is the average to rebuuild one.....

 

585 is good enough for me.

 

I would happily pay 585, especially for a shop doing the labor and taking out the trans and putting it back. My friend says he got a good deal for a rebuilding his w/ a shift kit and he payed $1000.

Thats a good deal. I payed 700 for mine last april, but it it wasn't a good rebuild. I'm thinking about getting a TCI Street Fighter 700R4 for 1300 from summit.

Only thing to figure out is Lock-Up or Non Lock-Up. Anyone explain the difference?

Well i rebuilt it and it is running better than ever and i finally got reverse now!!!It is a good rebuild and new convertor.....ONly bad part was that some idiot backed a big truck into my bumper and took alot of paint of it.....Good part was that i was going to repaint it and since my dad paints cars im going to use the money for something else

Good deal... I paid 750 for rebuild + 200 for a converter w/12 month warranty - and I pulled the tranny, took it to the shop, picked it up (3 days later, not bad) and put it back in myself...
