Who's had successful troublefree swaps for either a T-56 or a Tremec??? Please post short write-up and name of parts suppliers where ya got the stuff. I know I'll have to work with Steve Spohn to get my crossmember worked on but what was easy and what wasn't?

The T-56 .50 OD sounds nice... but I can just as easily go without it if it means waiting on some BS parts for weeks.

The only question I have about my own T-56 swap is why I did not do it sooner. I love it. You can and should run a deep gear, something in the 4.10/4.11 range. I use 5th for around town, but 6th comes in real handy on the highway. The install was not bad. Just make sure you get everything from one donor car. Get the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, trans, shifter, fork, and clutch slave cylinder. I bought an aftermarket crossmember and except for the two inch floor pan cut you make for the shifter, it is a bolt in project.

SO far I'm having a rough time locating a T-56 and the rest of the parts for transplant - that doesn't involve giving up both of my precious nuts. A source I talked to this morning said there's only 4 4th gen wrecks up for salvage in the whole country right now. Where's all the idiot punks when ya need them????
Meanwhile Forte's said they got Tremec's ready to ship out within a day or so.
The T-5 is still working...it's just making enough noise that I know it's about to die any minute, grinding reverse bad and hard to shift, making strange noises and stuff... even with new syncros that have only 7K miles on them. It was fine after I rebuilt it behind the 305 but I guess I got carried away with the 350.
