whats the ultimate setup to handle high horsepower (600+)??
What would be the best setup for someone with something like 700 or 800 hp from a turbocharged 5.7ltr?? I was thinking T56 w/ centerforce dual 2 clutch, carbon fiber driveshaft, and a ford 9 inch rear?? or is there a better rear end (w/ disc brake) for high top speeds? I know the T56 is only rated at 500 something hp, but if the boost was turned down, you could drive around normal under 300 hp and just make the boost higher if u gotta go fast and push the tranny a little bit for a small period of time. is it all going to go boom???? heheh
thnx for the help!!

I could be wrong but isn't a buit up version of the T-56 used in the Venom Viper and Lingenfelter Corvette? Those have like well over 600hp don't they?

future mods:
completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, Hurst shifter, dakota digital gauge package, procharger supercharger.

If your going with a t-56 trans. The first thing you wuold have too do is get rid of the t-56 clutch and bellhousing.Go with a lakewood or bob wier's bellhousing and then get a hydrolic throw out bearing. Forget centerforce and buy a ram or macloud clutch. Then get a 9" or a 12 bolt rear end. There are disc brake set ups for 9" rearends.Get a carbonfiber driveshaft.spohn torque arm and crossmember. Look at my website below.I don't have 600 HP yet but wait until I get a supercharger!

600 HP will need more than a drive train. Atleast good subframe connectors, LCA mount reinforcement (comes along with some SFCS). Not to mention replacing driveline mounts with polyurethane. The T-56 is probably up to the challenge of 600 HP, it's gotten a reputation as bullet proof but it does have it's limits.

How do you figure that? I run a TH350 and I hope to have a 2 speed powerglide installed next year. TH400 is a big heavy tranny. It is the strongest automatic (also the 4L80E) but only for street use. When racing, it's not the tranny of choice.

I know I'll probably get some laughs, but look at all those 200-4R's running in the high horsepower modified Grand Nationals. I know the 700-R4 can also be built to handle some massive horsepower. It all depends on if you wanna shift gears or not, and also if overdrive is important to you. The T56 does sound appealing in your situation though!

Well, of course for track purposes the Glide is the best, but he'd get gallons per mile instead of MPG. The 200R4 is a good tranny but expensive and you should find a mechanic who knows GN's or else you could have some problems.
