looking for better gears
I have a 1986 Trans am. I took the 305 out and put in a 383 stroker. the stock rear was not giving me the pull i wanted with the amount of horse power I had in my new engine. I have the 9 bolt inspection plate rear end, from what i understand it the borg warner. I have been told i can only get 373 gears for this rear end, which is fine with me thats the gears i was looking for. Ive been told this rear end is stronger then the 10 bolt chevy. Can anyone give me some in site on this? thanks Joe

If you have the 2.77 gears then you will have to replace the differential too. The 3.73 won't fit the 2 series that goes with the 2.77. If you have 3.27 or 3.45 gears then all you need is a 3.73 gear and a good installation kit. Do you have disc brakes?

Randy's has new 3.73:1 gearsets at a great price. while you're in there, your limited slip is probably worn out.

www.ringpinion.com If your posi is worn anyway, better to get a 3 series posi than use a spacer, but the spacer is cheaper. That's all that can be said for it.
