I found 3:73 gears for the 9 bolt rear through TPIS and also Precision gear lists them on thir site. The set from TPIS is made by Precision gear, so call and figure the better price....TPIS includes the master overhaul set too.

I don't know if this is useful to anyone or not, but I figured that I would share my findings. I know there are other companies selling them, but I have not seen anything advertised elsewhere...

The Borg-Warner ratio is 3.70. Even the actual gears are 10:37. I wonder why Myron would call it 3.73?

Because Miles's gears are custom 41/11. But as he and I agree, that leaves the pinion kinda weak. Jason, check to see if the gear count is standard or custom. Standard is 37 ring and 10 pinion, while custom setups are (for example Miles) 41 ring and 11 pinion.

But what to do when you have a 2 series carrier (2.77)?

 

The ring gear is 37 tooth and the pinion is a 10 tooth on this set.

If you have a 2 series carrier, you need to find a 3 series somewhere, they are out there.

What is the average price for an install, and how long should it take? I have dial indicaters, should I attempt it myself?

How much does Precision Gear want for the 9bolt 3.70 with master install kit?

 

If all goes as planned, I will have some new carriers (series 3 of course) and 4.1 gears on the way by the end of the week. Of course, I have thought this before, but it really is close now.

Jason, installing gears is something that takes special tools and experience. I wouldnt recommend it.
