305 auto ,,needs sorting out

Car: 1982 t top,,z/28,
Engine: 409ci vortec
Transmission: all steel t700r4,1300 stall yahooooooooooo
305 auto ,,needs sorting out
1982 305 auto holds in 1st
then changes hard in 2nd at low speed
if you drive it hard it changes normal
no one here has service data on these things
i will put a TH350 in in 6 months but need to drive this thing as is,,,for a while,,,need help,,,,,,,,,,this crapy auto says metric stamped on the pan, and the gearbox looks more suited to a 6 cylinder motor instead of a V8

The TH200C was not the cream of the performance crop, that's for sure. But, the first step towards fixing automatic shifting problems is to change the fluid and filter. If that doesn't help any, you might want to move your transmission change-out up on your schedule.

Idles smooth @ 600 RPM in D. Best 15.02/95.06 @ 5800' Bandimere (corrected 13.93/102.4 @ sea level).
