Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

Hey all, iv been noticing my clutch slipping laitly the clutch is a ZOOM HP series Kevlar clutch and i put it in brand new when i put the T56 in my car 6700 miles ago since day one the clutch pedal engaged high, i put a post up about it and no one seemed to think it was a real problem. But recently iv felt it slip for instance, if you are pulling a hill and hammer down the RPMs go UP and speed goes no where its deffinatly slipping, what could have happened, the flywheel was the flywheel that came with the trans, and i had it resurfaced prior to installation. Any thoughts suggestions what is a better clutch? i thought this one would do it...

oh ya i did break it in according the the specs (no hammering for 700 city driven miles)

My pedal engaged real high also, same story.. Turns out the slave wasn't fully disengaging and I wore out my Street Twin discs in 4000 miles.. I ended up putting 3/8" worth of washers between the slave and the bellhousing spacer to allow the slave to pull back all the way.. (after buying new discs of course.. :-/ ) Pedal engages at about 1/3 travel off the floor now, instead of about 3/4 travel before.

so if your looking at the bell housing and the studs that the slave bolts to there is a factory spacer you put more washers basically to make the spacer thicker right?

Yup.. You should be able to shim either side of the
factory spacer. I put mine between the factory spacer
and the bell.

Re: Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

what are you using for pedals, im using third gen pedals, and a brand new GM master and slave, i added the spacer 3/8 piece of aluminum and it did not change pedal is still high one thing i noticed when I pull the nuts off that hold the slave it wants to travel outward. basically i have to compress it to get the nuts on it compresses and extends fine.... PLEASE HELP what could be my problem... obviously the clutch is **** now but i do not want this to happen again....

Re: Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

I'm using 4thgen pedals.. The pedal height and clutch problem may be unrelated since 3rdgen pedals are known to engage high. Having to compress the slave rod to mount it, is common. As long as it has the travel to disengage (with the new spacers) it should be ok.

Re: Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

so where does your pedal engage? when yor foot is not on it is it even with the brake pedal? and by meaning travel to dissengage meaning that even know i have to compress it as long as it will compress further? so your saying that the high pedal has little to do with my problem right... the spacer did not seem to change pedal height or the way it engaged obviously its still slipping, but that coule be because the clutch is too far gone... but how will I know the problem is fixed, so i dont burn up another 600 bones on a clutch....

Re: Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

I have 4thgen pedals and a McLeod adjustible master, so my setup isn't relevant to yours.

A test would be to press in the slave rod until it bottoms-out, then measure the length to the bolt flange of the slave. Also straight-edge across the spacer and measure that down to the fork, with all the slack taken up. If your rod measurement is longer than the fork measurement, then it will keep the clutch slightly disengaged all the time..

checked that... i have room to go even without the spacer. i colapsed the slave measured and then measured from spacer to the socket on the fork the adapeter to the fork is longer. meaning that its ok then right

Re: Problem with ZOOM clutch PLEASE HELP

Ok back again.... this time with BAD news... the clutch is toast i pulled it last night and there is nothing left for friction material its down to rivits. this is what i noticed the clutch does not look as if it got hot its just plain worn out but 6000 miles com on? also the pilot bushing was rounded out meaning it was bigger than the imput shaft what could have caused this? so not im left with a junky clutch and a oblong pilot bushing... i found the clutch the came with the trans when i bought it (Factory 95 camaro) USED so i got a new pilot bearing this time (i could not find the bushing local) and i installed the used clutch DANG it holds great and the pedal is where it should be about 1" to 2" from floor..... PLEASE some one give me some insite on what the heck is going on here...

the ZOOM clutch was a HP70043-1 (4 puck kevlar )
