700r4 without ECM

Can the '84 700r4 tranny run just fine without the ecm. Thanx.

All except for lock up. You should have a valve in the VB for it and a simple trick is to put a 5/16 checkball in the snout of the solenoid to block it on. Now the valve will turn it on and off. THis assumes that it is the original trans Make sure that there are four larger aluminum valves in a row (they will have SMALL numbers on them). If you see one that is SMOOTH and indented, forget it, it is a dummy plug and this won't work for you.

Just so people don't run out and try this, this will ONLY work IF you HAVE a shift valvetrain for L/U. PLUS, it won't exactly have ideal shift timing but being an '84, it didn't anyhow. It just may be too early for your likes on this one. A full TransGo Shift Kit comes with all of the calibration corrections you will need but you asked if it would work and that is what I told you.
