Where can I find 3.42 or 3.73 gears?
I am looking for 3.42 or 3.73 gears for my 92. Anybody know what kind of car (besides Camaro) or truck I can pull these from? I've heard S-10's and El Camino's have them. Don't know what years though. Can anybody help??

For what a new set costs, I wouldn't even consider fooling around with used stuff.

New ones are only about $200... you're going to have to buy bearings, fluid, etc. anyway; spend a whole bunch of time; and then when you're done pray you got good junk ones so you can drive the car... get new ones. The price is worth it. The gears themselves are only a little more than half the total cost of the job.

Hey, I was pretty big into S-10's for awhile. I'm pretty sure 3.73s and 4.10/4.11s came in most of the older(87-prior) in 7.5" ring gears. Almost all '88-up 4.3L V6 powered trucks came with 7.625", mostly in 3.08, 3.42 and 3.73. If you decide to do the used or yard scrounging thing, the RPO's are almost always in the glovebox of these trucks and are GU4 = 3.08, GU6 = 3.42, GT4 = 3.73, GT5 = 4.10, H04 = 4.11. Hope this helps

When I was searching the yards for my 3.73/posi/disc axle, for kicks, I was looking into every blazer I could find. Much more often than not, they had the GT4 axle...

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was into S10's for a while too. That was my first automobile. 1988, red, shortbed, 4.3, lowered, five star rims. It was sweet. Then someone stole it. I got it back stripped and gave it to one of my friends who owns a junkyard. The rear end(which was actually from a '91) was still there so i might go back for it.
